”Finland and the Nordic countries are very attractive for data centres,” says atNorth’s Pekka Järveläinen.

A stable and well-functioning electricity grid makes Finland an attractive location for data centres. The climate – both the weather and political stability – also attracts investment.

”Finland is a very attractive place for this type of investment,” explains Pekka Järveläinen, atNorth’s Sales Director for Finland.

atNorth is an Icelandic company that offers tailored data centres for customers.

Heat reuse is important

Pekka Järveläinen was one of several speakers at the seminar ”Zero Emission Data Centres” on Tuesday. The seminar took a deep dive into the subject. Several of the speeches highlighted that heat recovery is one of the keys to succeed in creating more environmentally friendly data centres.

”A requirement for atNorth to build new data centres is also that heat recovery must be possible,” Pekka Järveläinen adds.

The seminar was organised by the University of Vaasa, Åbo Akademi University, VAMK and Novia.
